By Albert Einstein
Relativity: The Special and the General Theory is a popular science book by Albert Einstein. It began as a short paper and was eventually expanded into a book written with the aim of explaining the special and general theories of relativity. It was published in German in 1916 and translated into English in 1920
Albert Einstein wrote this book in 1916, when he was hardly known outside the physics institutes and shares here his excitement after completing his masterpiece The General Theory of Relativity. The purpose of this book, as explained by the author himself is "to give an exact insight into the Theory of Relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics". To describe the basic ideas and principles of his most important theory of relativity, Einstien has used the minimum of mathematical terms.
The Theory of Relativity, special and general, that led to a new theory of gravity, are narrated in this book i nthe most lucid and simple language by Einstien, the founder of modern physics
